Landfriese II (1992-2011)
Rainbow Equus Meadows is saddened to announce the passing of their stallion Landfriese II (Landadel/Manstein/Vollkorn xx). On a day that started with the birth of one of his wonderful foals and five days before his 19th birthday, Landfriese II unexpectedly succumbed to a ruptured artery.
Landfriese II’s illustrious career started as a Premium stallion at his licensing, followed by a 100-Day Test result of 123.10, which placed him third out of 34 and showed his versatility receiving scores of 9 and 9.5 for jumping as well as 121.15 overall (fourth) for rideability. Shown first in jumpers, he qualified and was a finalist for the 1996 and 1997 Bundeschampionat. Landfriese II was crowned Best Young Horse in the 1997 German Championships and was shown up to Grand Prix until an injury ended his jumping career. Landfriese II also competed up to M-Level dressage.
Landfriese II is one very successful stallion in breeding. He has numerous offspring competing at the highest levels in jumping, dressage, eventing and hunters. He sired nine licensed sons including a test winner at Redefin, many States Premium mares and successful auction horses for Paul Shockemohle and others. You can find Landfriese II offspring all over the world performing at international competitions such as Landquick, who won the Nations Cup with Beat Mändli (SUI) and USEF Hunter of the Year Quality Time. In 2002 alone, Landfriese II had eight offspring qualify for the finals at the German National Championships, several more followed.
Landfriese II was able to produce elegant, leggy types with heavier mares and is very popular among eventers. Due to his popularity we will see many more great offspring in the future. He will be missed in our program, but most of all we will miss his friendly personality and his nicker greeting us every morning.
